St Ives Lifeboat Day August 2013
A traditionally packed quayside greeted a traditionally action packed St Ives Lifeboat Day last week.
Thursday dawned bright and sunny to welcome St Ives Lifeboat Day 2013.
West Pier and the Lifeboat House were packed with a range of stalls and attractions to entertain the large crowds.
All weather lifeboat The Princess Royal was on display on the launch slip for all to see close up along with the RIB, the D class inshore Lifeboat the Colin Bramley Parker, and the capsize display boat.
St Ives Lifeboat Day August 2013:
St Ives Lifeboat Station has had a remarkable history of bravery with over 55 awards for gallantry being presented. Over its 165-year history it has also seen tragedy with seven lifeboat crew losing their lives saving others at sea.
This station is classed as a Discover station. Our crews from Discover stations are equally welcoming to visitors but many of these stations were built before visitors were considered. These stations normally open their boathouse doors during the summer months.
