Nate Najar is an accomplished jazz guitarist-composer widely recognized for talent as a finger-style player, having musical style influenced by Charlie Byrd. Najar began studying guitar in his teens with Frank Mullen. Najar’s list of discography and performances are extensive, having produced multiple albums and touring on an international level. Najar, originally from Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA, Najar is also known for the related act, Nate Najar Trio; during performances he plays Byrd’s own guitar which is a 1974 Ramirez 1A nylon string classical (the same instrument also having been played by Andres Segovia). In 2011 Najar’s made the Top 10 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart via the song “Groove Me,” the vocals sang by Tony winning singer Melba Moore.
