Mark Pearson. Old and New: Places and the Pursuit of Good Quality
The St Ives are pleased to announce that Trust Talks Series 3 will conclude on 18th February 2014 with a talk given by Mark Pearson.
Mark Pearson is the independent chair of the Cornwall Design Review Panel. He is an architect and urbanist and has a small practice in partnership with his wife, but his passion is for the public promotion of better buildings and places – and spends most of his time running the Architecture Centre, Devon and Cornwall. He has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Plymouth; the Director of the Architecture Centre, Bristol; and, worked on behalf of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment – acting on their behalf across Devon and Cornwall.
This talk will lay bare many of the dilemmas facing the production of new architecture and may leave the audience with more questions than answers! Mark will illustrate with examples from elsewhere how established places can move forwards with success – and ask whether any of the principles identified might be relevant and useful to apply in St Ives?
The details for the
full programme of talks is available on the St Ives Trust website www.stivestrust.org.
