Dave will introduce the Cornwall Design Guide and the emerging housing standards and then look at how in developing a neighbourhood plan or similar a community might use these tools to look critically at their place in order to direct positive change. Dave is a qualified architect and town planner.Prior to moving to Cornwall, Dave worked for Swindon Borough Council firstly as an architect designing sheltered housing and community buildings and latterly as a town planner, directing the towns southern expansion, a masterplan for the town centre and its successful bid for an urban regeneration company.Dave joined the Camborne Pool and Redruth Urban Regeneration Company in 2003 as Planning and Development Manager overseeing the production of a number of related masterplans for the area as well as establishing a Planning Liaison Group to engage with different statutory bodies to resolve issues prior to planning applications being made.Seconding to Kerrier District Council, Dave established a Major Projects Team to develop planning briefs and masterplans for key regeneration sites and help the Council respond proactively and positively to the regeneration opportunities in CPR.

Dave is currently a Group Leader in Cornwall Council’s Planning Delivery Team and in addition to proactively managing, coordinating and directing development projects, has taken on the responsibility for the Council’s planning design guides and Design Review Panel.
