Country Christmas

A celebration of winter rural life past and present in seasonal music and film with singer songwriters Dee & Dave Brotherton and local film maker Alban Roinard.

We offer a selection of songs and moving images as an antidote to the frenzy of our disconnected modern life and our separation from the living world around us, with live music and a rare showing of the film “The Valley of the Stag,” shortlisted for this years’ Celtic Media Festival.

A few words from Dee & Dave Brotherton;

“We love doing our Christmas show in the St Ives Arts Club, it has such a special atmosphere and we always get a lively and appreciative audience.”

“Our choice of songs will reflect the season and help get us all in the mood for Nadelik Lowen – a happy Christmas. We’ll include a few old favourites, some with brand new arrangements and some in Cornish to take us back to the Celtic roots of this amazing place.”

A few words from Alban Roinard, Producer & Director;

The Valley of the Stag was filmed in small sessions over a four year period. It took two years for Colin Nankervis, the subject of the film, to trust enough to let me in.”

“I was fascinated by the fragility and timelessness of his circumstances, and wanted to make a film that quietly acknowledged that. In a world of advancement which incorporates a faceless mass production of food, and disconnection from environment, this film is a portrait of a man connected to his landscape and heritage.”
